hlw Keeble Hawson’s participation in a credit management event spearheaded by Leicestershire-based Aggregate Industries - a leading UK supplier of materials used in construction and infrastructure projects - has received a wealth of positive feedback.

hlw Keeble Hawson logoInsolvency specialist, Robert Brown and debt recovery team manager, Charise Marsden, shared a platform with top speakers from the Bank of England and Co Credo at the breakfast briefing, supported by Hays and the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM).

Speaking for the second consecutive year, Robert and Charise gave an insight into the use of winding up proceedings against insolvent debtor companies, employing Shakespearean comparisons to modern debt control – in particular, “Neither a borrower nor lender be.”

Entitled ‘Latest developments in the Credit World’, the session was aimed at businesses seeking top tips on the latest credit management techniques and news – and for attendees seeking to meet contacts who can share their expertise.

Upbeat feedback from delegates included the relevance of the presentation and clarity of delivery - with the event organiser reporting that the speakers were back ‘by popular demand’, as they are not normally invited back the following year.

The hlw Keeble Hawson team attending and supporting the briefing also found it valuable for forging new connections.

The session attracted delegates from the corporate and personal insolvency and debt solutions sector and credit management personnel in England and Wales along with credit managers.

Other presenters included Stephen Robertson, CEO of the Big Issue Foundation and Brian Morgan, Operations Director at credit software firm, Rimilia.

Robert said: “Insolvency law is a specialised field that must be practised with great sensitivity. This top event was a marvellous opportunity for delegates to stay up-to-date on new techniques and market changes, as well as exchanging tips for best practice and achieving results.”

Robert will also speak at the insolvency and restructuring trade body, R3’s annual northern conference in Durham, on March 24, where he will share his expertise on the insolvent estates of deceased persons. Details can be found at: https://www.r3.org.uk/index.cfm?page=1064&ravn_itemid=NE170323.

With offices in Sheffield, Leeds and Doncaster, hlw Keeble Hawson is one of the region’s biggest law firms and is at the heart of the business and wider community.
